We always hear so much about Ladies Day, Best Dressed Lady and other fashion events that take place in the run up to the races which sometimes leaves men’s fashion overlooked. The races are one of the biggest events of the year, be that in Fairyhouse, Leopard’s Town or our very own Galway Races. The races are a time for you to soak up the great atmosphere and celebrate the summer, have fun with your friends or family and hopefully have a few wins and there’s no better way than doing this in style. When you look good you feel good and you don’t always have to wear a suit and tie to be able to do this.
Here is our guide to looking your best and being the Best Dressed Man at Galway Races:
Tip 1: Grooming
As mentioned there are many fashion events that take place in the run-up to the races in preparation for Ladies Day. So as you can imagine the ladies have started their grooming preparation weeks ago so it’s time for you to follow suit. Having a fresh haircut and a beard trim is plenty to get you set on the right track but if you have more steps in your routine don’t be afraid to stop there. Go all out for the occasion.
Tip 2: Dress to Impress
With the focus being mainly on ladies' fashion this is giving men the perfect opportunity to create their very own Race Day dress code. The ladies will be going all out with fancy hats so why can’t men wear a tuxedo and channel their inner James Bond. If tuxedos aren’t your thing don’t worry, suits can still be as dressy. If your style is more casual that is perfect too. A blazer teamed with a floral shirt tucked into a pair of chinos and paired with loafers is just as stylish and gives holidays abroad vibes. You can view our collection of blazers here.
Tip 3: Accessories
A plain black suit can be transformed by adding a pop of colour by using a pocket square with a matching tie. If you are wearing a tuxedo you can add cufflinks to finish off the look. Or if you have decided that a blazer and chinos are more your vibe add a cap and your look will be elevated and show that you really are dressed for the occasion. Tip 4: Plan
No matter how near the racecourse is to you or how often you have attended each year this event is getting bigger and bigger every year. Due to this it is so important to plan for where you are going, what you will be doing, how you are getting there, who you are going with, purchase your tickets on time and have your outfit planned and tailored to perfection. Planning takes the stress out of the event and enables you to enjoy the day in style.
