We are looking for tips from Irish sports stars on how they are staying busy and motivated during self isolation and social distancing.
Today’s interview is with International rugby player Kieran Marmion. Kieran came to Galway in 2012, coming from the Exiles system and has played here ever since. His primary position is playing at Scrum half and was a part of the team that historically beat the All Blacks in 2018!
Who are you self-isolating with?
I’m self isolating with my brother Liam his girlfriend Katie and my house mate Pete
What tips do you have for people to stay positive and motivated?
For me just using this time to explore new things and learn a few new skills that maybe I wouldn’t have had time to do before
If there anything you have been putting off that you have finally found time for?
Learning to cook a few new recipes and reading a few books, wrestling matches with my brother!
What’s your favourite movie/book?
I've been reading a book about free diving called one breath, and have been through the Harry Potter series
Have you participated in any online challenges or TikTok videos that we can check out?
I haven’t but my brother has done a few and had one at 360k view
Any tips for working out/staying fit at home?
Just find a way to get some sort of exercise in, it’s amazing what you can do with very little equipment and a bit of space
What does playing sport mean to you?
Getting the opportunity to compete against other people and show what your passionate about doing
What’s your favourite sporting memory?
Winning the Pro 12 final
Any Netflix shows/documentaries you want to watch?
I don’t watch too much Netflix but I've just finished watching The Last Dance and loved it
What is the first thing you will do/ place you will visit when the lockdown is over?
Either back to Wales to see family or book a holiday to somewhere sunny
