The Galway Races Style Guide

The Galway Races are one of the best weeks  of the summer here in Galway.  Whether you are interested in horse racing or not this week brings such a buzz to the city and if the weather is good the atmosphere both at the racecourse and here in  Galway city centre is ecstatic. From Monday the 25th of July to Sunday the 31st there will be so much to do with so many events to attend too. With that in mind it means planning your outfits so that you can look and feel your best. At  the racecourse the events are more  formal and a certain  dress code is expected but  if you are planning a more casual evening here at Hanley & Co we will have something for you to look stylish and be comfortable too.

Patterned and Floral Shirts

Patterned and floral shirts are an excellent way to dress up any outfit. They have a way of elevating an outfit whether you are styling them  with a pair of chinos or underneath a blazer. They bring your look to the next level.  This A Fish Named Fred shirt is the perfect  piece for anyone who is only getting used to wearing patterned shirts as it has your traditional white background and a small print with pops of colour to give it an edge.

Tailored Blazers

You really can’t go wrong by adding a tailored blazer to any look no matter what time of year or  occasion. They are very versatile and transitional pieces that won’t  look out of place in the summer or the winter. Worn over a shirt or a t-shirt they will give you a smart or cool look depending on what other accessories or items you use to style it. A Fish Named  Fred is one of our most popular blazer brands especially for the summer season with its addition of playful colours and patterns, but if you are more of a fan of neutrals then this blazer in shade sand from the range is the perfect choice for you.

Chinos are the perfect piece for this time of year especially if our heatwave sticks, we don't want to be wearing jeans or trousers next week. Chinos are light, comfortable and very easy to wear. They can also be dressed up or dressed down which makes them very versatile if you are going from a daytime to evening event. We stock a range of chinos in different colours and styles but beige and grey shades are our favourites at the moment as they are so easy to style with many different colours creating different looks.
