The Lockdown Interviews with Galway Hurler Jack Coyne

We interviewed some Irish influencers and sports stars for tips on how they are staying busy and motivated during self isolation.

Today’s interview is with Jack Coyne from Castlegar. Jack plays for his club team Castlegar GAA, and is also on the Galway senior hurling team. He also runs his own fitness classes and personal training in Allcore Gym. He is posting fitness tips and workouts throughout lockdown and you can follow him on Instagram  for fitness tips!

We interviewed him to see if he has any motivation tips for our readers during this time.

Who are you self-isolating with?

At my home house with my parents, brother and sister.

 

What tips do you have for people to stay positive and motivated?

Staying connected with family and close friends. Take up a new hobby!

 

If there anything you have been putting off that you have finally found time for?

Getting Assignments done on time and working on my cooking skills.

 

What’s your favourite movie/book?

My favourite Book would be Legacy and favourite movie would be Matt Fraser Documentary.

 

Have you participated in any online challenges or TikTok videos that we can check out?

I’ve done a handstand challenge and a 5k run all raising money for charities.

 

Any tips for working out/staying fit at home?

Follow my social media pages for some ideas on workouts. It’s important to keep active and get a routine going especially when Leisure Centres and Gyms are all closed.

 

What does playing sport mean to you?

Being part of a community - It’s your identity really playing from such a young age and meeting friends for life throughout your career. It’s important to have that and even better when you're winning.

 

What’s your favourite sporting memory?

Running out in Croke Park on All Ireland Final day!

Tiger King seems to be popular

 

What is the first thing you will do/ place you will visit when the lockdown is over?

Meet up with Family I haven’t seen in awhile. Looking forward to be back hurling training with the lads and will probably book a holiday as well.
